A crypto wallet doesn't actually hold coins. It holds the keys that prove you control them.
Two main types
- Hot wallets are apps connected to the internet. They're convenient for small amounts.
- Cold wallets are offline devices. They're slower to use but much harder to hack.
The one rule that matters most
Never share your recovery phrase. Nobody legitimate — not support staff, not a giveaway, not a friend — will ever need it.
Spotting scams
Be wary of anyone who promises guaranteed returns, pressures you to act fast, or asks you to pay in crypto to "unlock" winnings.
If it sounds too good to be true, slow down.
